Dog dies when car hit him with its passenger’s car, police say.
A dog in New York City has died after being struck by a car in Queens, authorities said.
The animal was hit by a van with a person inside at around 8 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
“It was a tragic accident and I hope the family can be comforted by knowing the person involved has been charged,” Detective Sgt. Anthony J. Bell said.
He said the owner of the van was taken to a local hospital.
“She is still undergoing medical treatment,” Bell said, adding the van driver was not injured.
The van driver, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
Bell identified the owner as a 45-year-old woman, but police did not say whether she was married or if she was pregnant.
