Posted September 14, 2018 07:16:19MEXICO CITY (AP) A bulldog named MEXICO DE PARA is among more than 300 dogs rescued from a Mexico City apartment after it was found with the genetic mutation that causes the syndrome.
The dogs were rescued Thursday after being left unattended in a rental home, where they had become increasingly aggressive.
They were taken to a veterinary clinic, where veterinarians confirmed that MEXICA DE PORTUGALES was inbred.
The dog is now being cared for at a veterinary hospital in the city’s capital, with its owner’s name not yet known.
A Mexican government official told the AP the dog is “not a danger to the public” and has been “rehabilitated.”
