D.J. Teague, a comedian and actor who has a child with Down syndrome, has spoken out about her son.
Teague told the Daily Mail, “”I had to get this baby into the world,” she said, “I was forced to put my life on hold for three years.
“She said that her son, Benjamin, had Down syndrome as a result of the chromosomal disorder, but was born without a diagnosis.
She said that, during the time he was born, she tried to raise him with the help of friends and family, but she was unable to convince him to have surgery for a spinal condition.
She added that she was “scared of what was going to happen” and felt like she was in a “state of limbo.”
Teague said that she eventually learned to speak up for him and his family.
She told ABC News that she and her husband of nine years, Jason, have been working on their plans for the future and are expecting a baby boy in December.
She told the news outlet that she has had the same type of shock that she suffered at birth.”
My life was changed forever, and I never had the chance to experience anything like it again,” she told ABC.”
I was born with Down Syndrome, but I never thought it would end up like this.
I thought it was a blessing, and a blessing it was,” she continued.
